My Genetic Disposition to Fishing Dependency

Even at the young age of 52 I can still remember clear as a bell the first stocked rainbow trout I caught by myself....it was at Clear Creek on the Fort Hall Shoshone Bannock Reservation just north of Pocatello, ID, at the age of 4. What recently shattered my fond, tender memories was my father sending me a digitized photo of that trip.....somehow, through my eyes at the time I remember that fish being WAY bigger than the 7 inches it appears to be....of course, I was much shorter then also. Since that experience I have spent uncounted hours with my father and my uncle on many rivers learning the nuances of fishing trout. My father frequently told me in my teens I would burn out on fishing before I was 20.....wrong, wrong, wrong. Not only has the addiction persisted but then I began wrapping fishing rods 25 years ago.....there's nothing to cure me now.

My wife told me to start this blog as my passion for building rods, fishing and looking at fish (they are all gorgeous) has become worse with age.....and it keeps me out of her hair.

About 3 years ago I got a serious bug about learning the taxonomy of salmonids, especially in North America and decided I must catch all subspecies before leaving this mortal coil. But I have a passion for catching all fish anywhere and currently my lifetime number of species is at 183.....yes, you are right it is a sickness.

For my first entry I will just hook up a slide show of some of 2007's good fishing times.

Hope you enjoy..............Brian
